JR: How does the Hassler’s iconic location atop the Spanish Steps specifically shape the guest experience and curated offerings?

Our position atop the Spanish Steps is not just iconic—it is truly immersive and integral to the experience we offer.
Physically and emotionally, our guests are in the heart of Rome, with an unparalleled view of the city’s rooftops and direct access to its most elegant shopping streets, icons of Roman history, and world-renowned cultural attractions.

From the moment they arrive, they are surrounded by beauty, history, and timeless charm. This location inspires everything we do—from tailored city tours to exclusive dining experiences at Imàgo, our Michelin-starred restaurant, and on our panoramic seventh-floor terrace, both offering breathtaking views over the Eternal City. It’s a privilege to welcome guests into a space that offers such a direct connection to the soul of Rome.”

JR: As an independent, family-owned hotel, what unique aspects define the Hassler’s approach to luxury and personalized guest service?

Owned by Roberto and Veruschka Wirth, Hassler Roma reflects six generations of Swiss hospitality tradition, and we’re now at a pivotal moment in our journey as we work to refresh our image without losing sight of our history.

The Hassler, as an independent hotel, has its own soul—its character, its history, and its identity—and that is becoming increasingly rare. Major international chains often tend to standardize experiences, losing the unique essence of each property and the city they belong to.
We are proud to preserve the Hassler’s independence. As a family, we have always believed that true luxury lies in attention to detail and in genuine human connection.
Being independent allows us to personally oversee every element of the guest journey, ensuring consistency, warmth, and a deeply personal touch.

At the Hassler, we make every effort to anticipate our guests’ needs, understand their habits, and exceed their expectations with thoughtful, tailored experiences. Each guest is treated with the same care and attention, because we believe that everyone who walks through our doors should feel like royalty. We personally welcome guests as we would in our own home—with heartfelt hospitality and discretion. We remain closely involved in every aspect of the hotel to ensure our guests receive the highest standard of service and an exceptional experience while in Rome.
Above all, we guarantee the utmost privacy throughout their stay. Every decision we make reflects our family’s passion for hospitality and our commitment to making each stay unforgettable.

JR: What makes Imàgo, your Michelin-starred restaurant, a cornerstone of the Hassler’s identity and its appeal to discerning diners?

Imàgo represents the pinnacle of our philosophy: tradition reimagined with elegance and creativity.
In a single word, it encapsulates the essence of the restaurant—a place where extraordinary views and refined flavours come together to create a truly unique culinary experience.

Chef Andrea Antonini proposes original, purely Italian cuisine, where the focus is on the best possible product as the basis for a constantly evolving menu.
His creations reflect a sense of identity that is both patriotic and playful, rooted in excellence, craftsmanship, and innovation. Menus are renewed twice a year.

Imàgo is a living expression of evolution—led by a young, dynamic team whose energy mirrors the broader transformation that we are bringing to the Hassler (we are driving at the Hassler as a family)
Over the years, the restaurant has received numerous awards, standing as a symbol of contemporary Italian fine dining while remaining deeply connected to the city’s timeless spirit.

JR: Beyond classic luxury, what are the Hassler’s key sustainability initiatives, and how are they integrated into the hotel’s operations?

We are deeply aware that luxury today must go hand in hand with responsibility. Over the years, we have introduced a series of sustainability initiatives—from energy-efficient systems and water-saving technologies to waste reduction and local sourcing of ingredients. We have also taken steps to reduce single-use plastics and to work with suppliers who share our environmental values. These efforts are discreet but impactful, integrated seamlessly into our operations so that guests enjoy the highest standard of comfort while supporting a more sustainable future.

JR: Could you describe Hassler’s approach to interior design and guest room aesthetics? How do you ensure each space feels unique and authentically Roman while providing modern comfort?

Design at the Hassler is a careful balance between timeless Roman elegance and modern luxury. Each room and suite has its own personality, featuring classic furnishings crafted by master artisans, fine fabrics, and curated artworks that reflect the city’s heritage. Precious materials—such as Murano glass chandeliers, crystal mirrors, and custom antique furniture—are thoughtfully integrated to create an atmosphere of discreet yet genuine luxury. At the same time, we continuously invest in technology and comfort to ensure a seamless guest experience. We want our guests to feel they are in a private Roman residence—rich in history, yet equipped with all the contemporary amenities they expect from a world-class hotel.

JR: The Amorvero SPA offers a sanctuary in the heart of Rome. How do your wellness facilities complement the hotel’s luxurious image and cater to guests seeking relaxation and rejuvenation?

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of a brand-new SPA — a luxurious 700-square-meter sanctuary spread over two floors in the heart of Rome
This state-of-the-art wellness center will embody our vision of well-being: an intimate yet spacious retreat offering personalized treatments that blend traditional techniques with modern innovations, all using the highest quality natural products.

Designed to provide a deeply restorative experience, the new SPA will perfectly complement the Hassler’s elegant atmosphere, offering guests an unparalleled place for relaxation and rejuvenation. This significant investment reflects, once again, our commitment to enhancing every aspect of the guest experience and meeting the evolving expectations of luxury travelers. It’s where Roman spirit meets timeless tranquillity.

JR: Considering Hassler’s esteemed past, what is your vision for its future, including any planned strategic enhancements or new experiences?

Our vision is to continue evolving while staying true to our roots.

The Hassler has always stood for excellence, discretion, and authentic Roman hospitality—values we grew up with and feel deeply connected to.

As we look to the future, we’re investing in technology and innovation to enhance the guest experience, while preserving the unique charm and character that define us.

We’re also exploring new ways to offer bespoke experiences, whether cultural, culinary, or wellness-focused.

Carrying forward our family’s legacy is a great responsibility, but also an incredible opportunity. We’re proud to shape the next chapter of the Hassler.

We’re currently in the midst of a major rebranding effort—one that blends the richness of our past with a more contemporary and relevant spirit. A major milestone will be the opening, as we said before, of our new two-floor, 700-square-meter  SPA in 2026: a key addition to the future guest experience. We completed the renovation of Salone Eva in October 2025, and further areas of the hotel will follow throughout Q1 and Q2 of 2026. All of this is part of a broader transformation aimed at making Hassler Roma not only timeless, but also timely.
