Spread across 255 acres and surrounded by three miles of white sand beaches, Vomo Island is a premier—and relatively undiscovered—South Pacific island getaway. Located just 15 minutes by air from Nadi International Airport, and set on the slopes of Mt. Vomo, this 5-star, all-inclusive resort encompasses two spectacular private islands and features 28 resort villas (ranging from duplex-style suites to freestanding hillside and beachfront villas) and four luxe beachfront residences (that come complete with round-the-clock butler service). The resort recently debuted a fab adults-only Beach Club and a custom fitness program called VOMOFit.
The Beach Club opened in March just steps from the Pacific Ocean as part of an overall expansion of The Rocks area (located on the secluded western tip of the island) to further enhance the guest experience. It boasts a pristine infinity-edge pool; expansive tiered decking offering gorgeous views of the pool and beyond; white cage cabanas, lounge chairs and aqua “floating” chairs; and a reimagined restaurant and lounge.
The Rocks Bar & Restaurant at the Beach Club now features canopied dining tables, a vibrant new cocktail bar and an extensive catch-of-the-day-style menu of sashimi and poke bowls. It’s the perfect spot to watch the sunset over the quaint Vomo Lailai island.
Other dining options include The Reef Restaurant, serving fresh and innovative cuisine made with ingredients straight from Vomo’s own herb and vegetable gardens; and Vuda Bar, offering snacks combined with and international wine and cocktail list.
Beyond the superb dining and Beach Club, Vomo Island partnered with Australian fitness and wellness coach Scott Thompson to develop a new tailor-made exercise program. Dubbed VOMOFit, the program offers a choice of cardio, circuit training and strength sessions. Guests simply download the fitness videos onto a mobile device then exercise in the privacy of their villa, on the beach or the yoga deck. VOMOFit classes also are available each morning in a small group setting, as well as yoga classes led by the resort’s certified yoga instructor.
Of course, Vomo’s utterly relaxing Kui Spa is a must-visit, offering therapies performed by highly skilled Thai and Balinese therapists. Be sure to try the Sodashi Detoxifying Marine Body Wrap (90 minutes for FJ $380), which combines sea plants, algae, marine minerals and plant essences for a full body exfoliation; a warm wrap using Sodashi Marine Body Mask; a soothing scalp massage; and a full-body lotion application.
Activities also abound at Vomo Island with everything from snorkeling and scuba diving to stand-up paddle boarding, windsurfing, hiking, tennis and a par-3, 9-hole pitch and putt golf course. Starting at $1,100 per couple, per night, 679.666.7955, vomofiji.com
